On 09 Oct 2003, I started to dig the hole for the concrete pier for the telescope. The idea was clear: It will stand 120 cm above ground, the same below ground. It should also flare out at the bottom - and be at least 80 cm below ground to be below the frost line.

Here is the hole:

I still have to wait before I can pour the concrete. The telescope mount will be attached to the pier with an aluminum disk that I have not yet received. To avoid that somebody falls into the hole until then, this is how it currently looks like:
