9th day: Saturday, 25 Sep 2004: Roof truss mass production (ca. 6 hours)

Last Sunday I started with the first roof truss. I used a modified M-shape. Today I went into mass production of the trusses, I need a total of six.

Julius helps with the circular saw. I cut the available logs in the middle under 20 degrees such that the resulting halfs have the same length.

Finished the top bars.

Part of the "M", the diagonal stiffeners, have to be 40 cm long. With the measuring unit at the circular saw they are cut in a few minutes.

I cut the little edge with the compass saw.

Sometimes one has to remind oneself why one is doing all this... That's why there is this drawing above my work bench..

I finish when it got dark. Also, as you can see, it is raining... To the left you can see that the second roof truss is done. The aim is to finish the other four tomorrow morning. Joe plans to come in the afternoon, maybe we manage to get the rails installed and the trusses up.
