12th day: Sunday, 03 Oct: Putting together the roof - part 3 (5 hours)

Don't forget: If you want a larger version (1024 x 768) of any image, just click on it!

The roof still was in two halves and the rails weren't properly mounted. I screwed the two halves together today and mounted the fasteners to avoid that the wind blows the roof away.

This hasn't been mentioned yet - I use is pressure-treated fur wood. Any freshly cut pieces need to be treated with end seal. Note - this is poisenous!

As mentioned before, the roof was assembled in two halves on the ground. The longitudinal logs are overlapping between the two halves. Here I screw them together.

There wasn't really a plan for the fastening down the roof. Now that the roof was on top I found out that the best (hopefully) is to add some blocks to the struts where no wheels are attached and mount fasteners there. This means to cut some wood again, which I do with the compass saw.
