The Pulsar telescope controller menu system and the configuration at The Koschny Observatory

To reach the setup menu, press the button marked ‘6’ on the hand controller.

To scroll through the menu, use the joystick.

‘N’ (move joystick ‘up’): In the 1st and 2nd level, moving the joystick towards the ‘north’ position goes one menu item up.

‘S’ (move joystick ‘down’): In the 1st and 2nd level, moving the joystick towards the ‘south’ position goes one menu item down.

‘E’ (move joystick ‘right’): accept or confirm the selection. In the 1st level menu, move to the 2nd level. In the second level menu, move to the parameter selection.

‘W’ (move joystick ‘left’): Corresponds to the ‘Escape’ button on a keyboard. In the 1st level menu, leave the setup. In the 2nd level menu, goes to 1st level. In the parameter level, jumps to the 1st level menu.

Selecting parameters: When more than one parameter is present, pressing ‘E’ will accept the current value for the parameter and continue to the next one.

Editing parameters: Sometimes, parameters can be toggled (e.g.for ‘German/Fork’) by pressing ‘N’/’S’. Numbers can be entered by directly typing the button with the corresponding number. When a sign is expected (e.g. in the latitude – plus or minus), press the button marked ‘-‘. Pressing a number will jump to the first number field (note that this number will be ignored). Confirm the new parameter value by pressing ‘E’, then go back to the menu using ‘W’.

Note that for some 2nd level menu items, no detailed parameter is given, the values can be entered directly at the next level. For other 2nd level menu items, only one parameter is given – see the table below.

The different menu items and parameters together with the values used at TKO are given in Table 1.

The option Yes/No for RA Limit ON/OFF seems ambigious. It is assumed that selecting ‘Yes’ will result in the limit checking to be ‘ON’ (not yet tested)
